January 2012 Off-Road Club Race Results

Meyerton RC Raceway

The morning started off with a light rain that fell. We thought that it would discourage the potential racers, but we are proud to say that off-road racers are not sissies! The cars kept on coming through the gates since 8 o’ clock. By 9 o’ clock the sun was shining again and the rain would only return after the prize giving was over. Lucky us!

Sorry man! Next time?

There were 12 entrants for the buggy class. They were divided into two heats, in order to have sufficient pit crew marshals on the track. Fortunately, we also had some spectators that proofed to be very capable marshals! We really appreciate the guys and girls that lent us a hand, especially in the extreme warm and humid conditions. Jason, Chante, Martin and all the others, thanks, we are in debt with you!

Wouter van Wyk, that usually does very well in off-road racing, had a real bad racing day. For some reason his buggy just didn’t want to co-operate. But I overheard a birdie saying that there was a lack of maintenance on the driver’ side and that the Agama was not to be blamed… Speaking of Agama: The overall winner for the day, Daniël du Plessis, was also racing with an Agama.

Meyerton RC RacewayNew members joined the club: Martin van Rooyen with his young son, Tertius.

Daniël du Plessis was undoubtedly the Racer of the Day…but with Morné Kok as a very worthy contender. He couldn’t afford a leeway of an inch; otherwise Morné would have caught up with him.
