This race meeting marked the beginning of Louis Nortje’s Nitro racing career.. His friend Rolan Ferreira recently moved over to nitro as well. And the two of them convinced Leon van Rooyen to start racing nitro, too!!   All three of them used to be electric drivers, but although we now have lost them in that discipline, we are very happy to have them with us on nitro race days.

This race meeting started at 10, a bit late, but seeing that there were only 4 classes, nobody really cared about the time. And as it was still in the middle of winter in South Africa, it was quite surprising to see that there were already short sleeves seen during drivers briefing.

What a cold start to this race meeting?! With a temperature reading of -4 degrees, a person has to ask: “Have we lost our minds?” I mean, having a home and a nice warm bed, what on earth urge any person to leave that all behind to endure this kind of weather?
